Calculators for trading & risk

Free, client-side calculators for common commodity trading and risk problems, an option payoff visualizer, a Value-at-Risk estimator, and a storage-economics model. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere. They’re a taste of the quantitative thinking built into Gravitas.

Option payoff calculator

Break-even, max loss, max profit, and a payoff diagram for a single option.

Payoff at expiry, per unit × quantity. Ignores financing and early exercise.

Value at Risk (VaR) calculator

Parametric VaR and Expected Shortfall for a position, at your chosen confidence and horizon.

Assumes normally-distributed returns. See how VaR is calculated.

Storage economics calculator

Whether a calendar spread covers the cost of storing a commodity and financing the inventory.

Net = (forward − spot) − storage carry − financing. Illustrative.

Beyond the calculators

These are a taste, Gravitas is the full engine

These free tools solve one problem at a time on inputs you type. In Gravitas, the same quantitative methods, VaR, the Greeks, curve construction, and scenario analysis, run automatically on your live positions and governed market data, across every commodity, in real time. See the full quant formulas reference or the quant engine.

FAQ

About these tools

Are these calculators free?

Yes, completely free and client-side. They run entirely in your browser; nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

How accurate are they?

The math is standard and correct for the assumptions stated (e.g. payoff at expiry, normally-distributed returns for VaR). They’re illustrative single-problem tools, production numbers come from the Gravitas engine on governed data.

Can I use these for real trading decisions?

They’re useful for quick estimates and learning, but real decisions should rest on a full platform running on your actual positions and market data. That’s what Gravitas is for.
